Two Dunedin teenagers face charges for several burglaries, and are being investigated in relation to others.
Police arrested the 18-year-old and 19-year-old occupants of a Queen St house when they executed a search warrant at the property on Thursday morning.
Sergeant Ed Baker said police were looking for stolen property and discovered a ''large amount'' of it at the house.
''Most of it was electronics, predominantly computers and laptops. We now have to find owners of the recovered property and link it with reported offences.''
He said the burglaries were still under investigation and it was possible more incidents would come to light.
''We believe they [those arrested] have been quite active, particularly in the North Dunedin varsity area.''
Sgt Baker said the suburb, where many tertiary students lived, continued to be targeted by thieves.
''It's partly because of the transient nature of people living in the area and also because students aren't that security conscious. For our local criminals they [students] are easy pickings.''
On Thursday night police officers conducted patrols along North Rd and connected streets to identify vehicles which had been left unlocked. They found 13 unlocked cars parked on the street in about an hour.
''We want to remind people to be a bit more preventive if they don't want to become victims of theft and burglary. It only takes a second to lock your car,'' Sgt Baker said.
