Top awards for Dunedin, Millbrook houses

A Maori Hill, Dunedin, brick property has won the regional supreme renovation award in the latest Southern Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition.

W. Hamilton Building Ltd was awarded the supreme renovation of the year award, and a gold award and also won the renovation up to $500,000 category.

The judges were impressed with the property's ``immaculate detailing and craftmanship'', and a courtyard was ``orientated to maximise views and sun'', they said.

A Queenstown home, at the Millbrook Resort, built by AJ Saville Builder Ltd, won the other supreme award, for house of the year.

The company also won four other regional awards, including a gold award and a category win for the new home over $2million, for its Queenstown show home.

It also received the the craftsmanship award and the kitchen award.

The regional results were announced last weekend in Invercargill.

The overall national supreme awards will be announced in Auckland on November 24.
