Education Minister Anne Tolley is declining to comment further on the South Dunedin schools review now that it has reached its final consultation stage.
When submissions closed at midnight on Tuesday, the Ministry of Education had received 66 submissions in the second round of consultation on the South Dunedin schools review.
This compared with 120 received in the first round.
A spokesman said Mrs Tolley could not make any further comment because it was a legal process.
However, she has said she will make the ministry's consultation report available once it has been considered.
The consultation process was launched by Mrs Tolley last year in response to the 620 surplus pupil places at Calton Hill, Caversham, College St, Forbury and Macandrew Intermediate Schools.
She said a review had become necessary because the roll declines could lead to reduced funding, reduced staffing and fewer educational options for pupils.
Mrs Tolley presented several options for the second round of consultation last month.
The ministry will now prepare a report for the minister, which is expected at the end of April.
Mrs Tolley is expected to make a final decision on the fate of the schools in early July.
The changes could be implemented from term 1 next year.
