The cash registers were glowing hot again when Dunedin hosted the All Blacks v France rugby test in June, new figures show.

An economic impact study, released by Dunedin Venues this afternoon, showed the June 23 test at Forsyth Barr Stadium was worth an estimated $10 million to the city's economy.

It also followed concerts by Roger Waters ($3.9 million), Robbie Williams ($3.31 million) and Ed Sheeran ($37.9 million), which together pumped an estimated $45 million into the city, to be followed by P!NK and Shania Twain later this year.

Dunedin Venues chief executive Terry Davies said the economic return from the rugby test was "fantastic'' for the city.

"The experience in the city is always brilliant and the buzz about the place was terrific. The city is $10 million better off because of the test weekend.''

The study, together with results of a fan survey, showed 59% of the 27,692-strong crowd at the stadium for the rugby test were visitors to the city.

The survey also showed 98% of respondents expressed "some degree of satisfaction'' with the event - the highest result for a test match under the roof, he said.
