An early morning gorse fire in the Dunedin suburb of Pine Hill is being treated as suspicious.
A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from Willowbank station and Otago Rural Fire were called to the fire, which burnt through a 50m by 50m stretch of gorse, about 3.20am this morning.
The fire, which was being treated as suspicious, was brought under control quickly, but firefighters remained at the scene for more than an hour dampening down hot-spots.
