Mosgiel families with children under the age of 5 are being sought this month for their opinions.

At least 90 families will get to fill in a quick questionnaire about family activities, the services they use and what they would like to have provided in the future.

Take 3 Streets Survey project worker Miriam Graham is carrying out the survey on behalf of the Methodist Mission, which gained a grant for the work from

Skip (Strategies with Kids/ Information for Parents), a Ministry of Social Development department.

She said she was knocking on doors and spending time at supermarkets and The Warehouse in Mosgiel to catch families when they were out and about.

''We are trying to get a cross-section of the community.''

She wanted to hear what people liked and what they thought they needed.

She said several communities had applied for the grant but Mosgiel was chosen.

The survey results would go back to the Methodist Mission and could determine what family activities and services were ultimately provided in Mosgiel, Ms Graham said.

Questionnaire forms are also available at the kid's zone in the Mosgiel Library.

The survey is confidential and the final report will be publicly available.
