Revellers tipped over a car in North Dunedin early yesterday morning, leaving a student angry and out of pocket.

It was anything but a Good Friday for Mat Bayly (24) when police informed him his vehicle had been rolled over in Harbour Tce earlier that morning.

The car - parked a short distance from his flat - had its windows smashed the week before, curtailing his Easter travel plans.

However, now he was faced with the prospect of having no vehicle, as his third party insurance would not cover the damage to his car, which was likely to be scrapped.

Furthermore, he had to pay for the vehicle's removal by a towing firm yesterday.

Mr Bayly had a message for those who wrote his car off.

''Imagine what it would feel like if this was your car,'' Mr Bayly said.

Inquiries into the incident were continuing.

Police reported several large parties in the student quarter early yesterday morning, emergency services attending several callouts including a couch fire on the corner of Castle and Howe Sts just before 2am.
