On Friday last week, Jack Brosnahan and Acacia Weekley tied the knot at St Patrick’s Basilica in Macandrew Rd.
As part of their wedding celebrations, the pair made a pit-stop to where it all began — aisle one at New World Centre City.
Mr Brosnahan said the couple’s love story began while restocking the shelves.
"I was the dairy boy, she was the bakery girl, but one day during a hectic Christmas period we both got put on the biscuit aisle.
"We argued over who spoke to one another first, but Acacia claims that she asked me whether we were supposed to do the facing up of the snacks by the checkout as well — very romantic first words — and that was the beginning of everything."
The pair met in December 2019 when Ms Weekley was due to wrap up her studies and head to Italy for her OE. However, Covid-19 stopped her plans.
Instead, the pair gradually got closer and closer throughout 2020, bonding over being the only ones in their respective friend groups having to work through the lockdown, until they made it official later that year.
She did eventually make it overseas, this time with her fiance in tow, for an early honeymoon last year.
"We couldn’t get away for a big honeymoon after the wedding, so we did it before.
"We went through the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria before making it to Italy," Mr Brosnahan said.
It was "a bit boring to say", but the wedding was perfect.
"I hadn’t seen her, hadn’t seen the dress — all pretty traditional — and then she walked down the aisle and I just cried in front of everyone."
