Police are continuing investigations into two alleged sexual assaults in the southern region late last year.
A 23-year-old jogger reported being attacked from behind, tied up and sexually assaulted in the Ross Creek Reserve in Dunedin on November 30.
Police said at the time the attacker used cable ties to restrain the victim before he was startled by a dog in the area.
A few days later, a female jogger was physically restrained and sexually assaulted in a horticultural block near Lincoln University, police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis, of Dunedin, said police were making progress in their investigation in to the Ross Creek incident.
When asked whether they had a suspect, or suspects, in mind, Det Snr Sgt Croudis said he could not comment.
No details of the progress made in the investigation could be disclosed, he said.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey, of Christchurch, said police were looking at several potential suspects in relation to the Lincoln incident.
"We have not as yet identified the individual responsible, although we have had a number of individuals nominated through the public which we are currently working through.''
Identikit images of both attackers had been released after the incidents.
They were produced with assistance from the victim in relation to the Lincoln attack, and by a woman approached by a man wearing clothing similar to the alleged attacker's two hours before the Dunedin incident.
