Social services head off to Auckland

The executive officer of the Council of Social Services Dunedin has resigned to take on a similar role in West Auckland.

Sue Russell said she applied for the chief executive position at Community Waitakere, a larger social services council, with more staff and more activity, in West Auckland.

''The opportunity came up and I thought: 'Why not?'''Ms Russell's last working day in Dunedin is January 18 and she starts her new job on February 11.

Council chairman Derek King said the council would try to replace her in the new year.
