Aurora enthusiast and Otago Museum director Dr Ian Griffin has been out chasing the southern lights again, coming up with another stunning video of the southern night sky.
Dr Griffin said it had been a very busy weekend for aurora chasers, "with a couple of excellent displays both on Saturday and Sunday".
He said the time-lapse video was shot from one of his favourite spots from about 7pm to 8pm.
"During this time the sky literally exploded with light for a few minutes around 7:30 in one of the most astonishing auroras I have seen for quite some time"
