The Southern District Health Board is seeking a head of communications who can ''clearly articulate'' its ''vision'', and improve its relationship with staff and the wider community.
''Key to the success of the organisation is open, transparent and responsive communication.
''You will be responsible for the leadership, performance and delivery of engagement initiatives to improve two-way communication with our patients, staff, stakeholders and communities,'' the recruitment advertisement says.
The position has been vacant since Steve Addison departed early this month.
In addition, the board is also advertising for a full-time senior communications adviser to replace a staff member who left last week.
The communications team is stretched by the Dunedin Hospital asbestos scare, and a Canterbury District Health Board communications manager has flown to Dunedin twice since the scare started last week.
The communications manager is due to arrive back in Dunedin today, for a third visit, to assist with the board's communication response.
Managing the public messages over planned changes to southern health under the commissioner regime installed in June will also be part of the successful applicant's brief.
