Amelia Bresanello, dean for Pasifika and Maori, said she was extremely proud of the pupils who did the run to raise money for the Cancer Foundation.
The school fun-run was justone of a number of smaller events which were taking place instead of the annual Relay for Life event which had been cancelled due to the pandemic, Mrs Bresanello said.
About 500 pupils had done at least one lap, which was all the school’s pupils who were not sick or isolating with Covid-19.
She singled out year 13 pupils for the remarkable work they did inspiring others to take part.
All had dressed up in their house colours and most did between four and eight laps.
The Cancer Foundation was a great cause and the course incorporated a remembrance element where pupils could write a prayer and light a candle at the cathedral, Mrs Bresanello said.
Principal Kate Nicholson said it was important fora school to come together as a community during the first term.
She was pleased the event could go ahead as many had been cancelled due to Covid.
