A name for the new school created by the merger of Macandrew Intermediate and Forbury School will be revealed next week, the Ministry of Education says.
Macandrew/Forbury School Board of Trustees chairwoman Joy Clark said following consultation with the schools and surrounding community, the board proposed a name for the merged school.
But the name would not be released publicly until it had been approved by the ministry, she said.
Ministry of Education regional manager, Southern, Ray Webb said the ministry was still considering the proposed name, but expected to provide the board of trustees with a yes or no response by the end of this month.
Earlier this year, Education Minister Anne Tolley announced Forbury School and Macandrew Intermediate would be merged on to the Macandrew site because of declining rolls in the South Dunedin area.
Forbury School will be closed at the end of this year.
Following alterations and refurbishment work, Macandrew Intermediate will reopen as a year 1-8 school under the new name at the start of term 1 next year.
