A car was involved in a high-speed pursuit of about 15 minutes in Dunedin, last night.

Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said its driver, an 18-year-old South Otago youth, allegedly evaded a police checkpoint in Mosgiel about 7.50pm.

An officer pursued the vehicle and the chase ended when road spikes were deployed on Flagstaff-Whare Flat Rd.

The youth, who was wanted on a warrant to arrest, will appear in the Dunedin District Court today facing charges of driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, failing to stop, sustained loss of traction, and breaching court bail.
