A Dunedin City Council spokeswoman said the road was closed between Doon St and Macandrew Bay so dangerous trees could be removed.
It was closed from Monday until today from 9am to 5pm.
A detour ran via Highcliff, Camp and Castlewood Rds.
Access was still available for buses, rubbish trucks and emergency services, she said.
