They are pictured with pupils Maya Staka (11) and Bram Casey (12). The visit was organised by NZ Modern School of Music director Denise Dore, an itinerant music teacher, who said the children ''loved every minute of it''.
The percussionists encouraged the Dunedin pupils to create music using ordinary household items such as cups, frying pans, chairs and buckets.
Balmacewen principal Andrew Hunter said the children were ''quite exhilarated''.
Ms Dore said she first encountered the musicians in Azerbaijan and was so impressed she decided to arrange for them to come to Balmacewen.
They frequently visit schools in New Zealand and Australia and have performed to 50,000 children since 2014.
