Keep Dunedin Beautiful hopes people will help beautify the city by picking up rubbish this Saturday.
KDB co-ordinator Darlene Thomson said the organisation wanted to encourage people to look around their backyard, in town, on a sportsfield, or at the beach for any rubbish and pick it up as part of the national Clean Up New Zealand Week.
"We're asking the public, no matter where they are, to pick up any rubbish they might find," she said.
"Every little bit will help."
People could register for the event by contacting the Dunedin City Council.
They would be supplied with large plastic bags and gloves.
The rubbish would be collected as part of the scheduled kerbside collection during the following week.
The Saddle Hill Community Board has adopted the Kaikorai Estuary as its clean-up location.
Deputy chairman Scott Weatherall said it was a "heavily used" recreational area.
The area had received a lot of attention over the past five years, as the council planted shrubs and trees there.
He hoped about 25 people would help.
Interested people could meet at the Otago Pistol Club, in Waldronville. The working bee would begin at 9am and continue until noon.
