Protesters opposed to virus measures heading to capital

Participants in a "freedom convoy" make their way into Dunedin from Balclutha along State Highway 1 yesterday, while protesters show support as the convoy makes it way past the overbridge at Mosgiel lookout.

The convoy is making its way up the South Island today. It is styled on a large protest in Canada last week, in which thousands gathered to protest vaccine mandates, masks and lockdowns.

To show support, New Zealand Covid-19 restriction protesters are running their own convoy from each end of the country headed towards Wellington.

The southern convoy arrived in Dunedin about noon and travelled along Cumberland St. It travelled from Bluff to Christchurch yesterday and will continue to Picton tomorrow.
