Marches of protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, and now a boycott of some international brands, continue to attract hundreds every weekend in Dunedin.

After gathering at the Tūhura Otago Museum Reserve, demonstrators once again made their way to the Octagon on Saturday.

Passing through George St the group called for a boycott of McDonald's and organisers from the group handed out flyers in the Octagon that said McDonald’s franchises in Israel provided free meals for Israeli soldiers.

The flyers were from the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement, which aims to end international support for Israel’s war in Gaza and pressure Israel to comply with international law.

The movement calls for a boycott of hundreds of companies and brands, including hummus brand Obela, SodaStream and HP (Hewlett-Packard) as well as petroleum brands Caltex and BP.

Marching down George St, the demonstrators chanted "while you’re shopping, bombs are dropping".

After reaching the Octagon the crowd heard from Dunedin City Council councillor Marie Laufiso and members of the public who wished to speak.
