The Otago-Southland Catholic diocese has come up with a ‘‘win-win situation'' after conducting a property swap in Mosgiel.
Last week the diocese swapped Verdon Chapel for the bishop's residence in Church St. The residence was owned by the Mosgiel Parish of the Immaculate Conception.
The parish had been based in Verdon Chapel after their former church was pulled down more than 10 years ago, Otago-Southland Roman Catholic diocese general manager Stuart Young said.
‘‘They had been leasing Verdon Chapel on an annual basis from the diocese. Under the swap the diocese retains the land, and the parish takes over the leasehold over the building.''
