Council transport strategy manager Nick Sargent said about 800 responses had been received by the time the survey closed last week.
Key themes to emerge included the turnover of parking spaces around the central city and university, pricing and time restrictions and enforcement, as well as the use of technology, he said.
Council staff would prepare a report for councillors, outlining the feedback in more detail, before an updated parking policy was released for public consultation later this year, he said.
The further round of consultation would help shape final recommendations on changes to city parking, which was expected to be presented to councillors in early 2019, he said.
The wide-ranging review of parking was launched earlier this month, as the council continued to field a regular stream of complaints from the public.
"Based on the complaints we are seeing, there’s clearly some issues which need to be sorted out," Mr Sargent said at the time.
"There is definitely pressure on parking."

Dunedin rate payers and tenants of Dunedin rental properties should be given access to parking spots free of charge everywhere in OUR city. We already pay for all of this in our annual rates which funds the operations of Dunedin City Council, what do you think ?
