Polytech expects to hit roll target

Otago Polytechnic is on track to meet forecast student numbers this year, with enrolments up 3.3% on last year.

A finance report tabled at yesterday's polytechnic council meeting showed that as of the end of September 3938.8 fulltime equivalent students (EFTS) had enrolled. This was 131 EFTS (3.3%) more than at the corresponding time last year and only 2.4 EFTS down on forecast.

Chief executive Phil Ker noted in the report that the polytechnic was on track to meet forecast student numbers by the end of the year.

The operating surplus for the year to September was at $893,000, which was $227,000 down on expectations, in part due to ''timing''.
