Police seek young girls who witnessed incident

Police are searching for a group of girls who witnessed a man performing an indecent act at St Clair Beach on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the dunes of the beach about 3pm on Saturday, a police spokeswoman said.

Police spoke to a man after the matter was reported by lifeguards of the St Clair Surf Life Saving Club.

"Nobody was arrested," the spokeswoman said.

"Police spoke to a man nearby and inquiries are continuing."

Police wanted to speak to the group who reported the matter to the lifeguards or "anyone who saw a male acting suspiciously in the St Clair area around that time".

St Clair Surf Life Saving Club chairman James Coombes said a group of young girls told the lifeguards the man was "enjoying himself".

"It’s happened before and we report it to police," he said.

"It hasn’t happened for a while."

Anyone with information should contact acting Sergeant Chris Lemon.
