A man was arrested after allegedly crashing into a rubbish truck in the Octagon, "shunting" it forward and injuring its passenger.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police were called to the Octagon at about 2.45am yesterday.
A vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man had crashed into a parked rubbish removal truck.
A passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries due to it being "shunted forward" and was taken to Dunedin Hospital, Snr Sgt Bond said.
The 29-year-old continued driving, before parking nearby and walking off.
He was later found by the Kensington Oval, where he was arrested for dangerous driving.
He also recorded a breath alcohol content of 731mcg, so had his licence suspended for 28 days and was summonsed to appear in court on January 28, Snr Sgt Bond said.
