Two hunters who sparked a police search in Dunedin hills this morning have turned up ''fine but a bit cold''.
A search was launched after a woman called police around 8.30am to say her son-in-law had failed to return home from a hunting trip, a police spokeswoman said.
The missing man was hunting with another relation, she said
The pair had not taken supplies for an overnight stay.
One of the men was an experienced hunter and the other was not, she said.
Calls to the men's cellphones could not be connected.
The mother-in-law believed the men were hunting on a property near the end of North Rd in Upper Junction.
Police searched in the area, Mt Cargill, Whare Flat and Swampy Summit.
At 9.50am, police were told the son-in-law had contacted his wife.
Both men were "fine but a bit cold''.
It was unclear if the men had been lost or had deliberately stayed out overnight.
