Detectives have returned to the scene of a murder in Seacliff, but are being tight-lipped about the reasons for the search.

Officers from Dunedin CIB and a mobile forensic unit were seen at the Seacliff addresses of Sharon Diane Comerford and Stephen Findlay on Monday evening.

Findlay has been charged with Ms Comerford's murder.

Ms Comerford's body was found in her Coast Rd home after emergency services responded to the discovery of a man with gunshot wounds in Truby King Reserve on March 8.

Ms Comerford died from a single gunshot to the head.

The man, who was later identified as Findlay, was believed to have suffered self-inflicted injuries and a firearm was found nearby in the reserve.

He was charged in early April with murder after undergoing surgery for his injuries.

A detective was yesterday seen peering into the window of a caravan Findlay lived in.

Findlay's section neighboured Ms Comerford's home.

The Otago Daily Times requested an interview with officers about their activities in the investigation.

However, police only provided a small emailed response.

Detective Sergeant Stanley Leishman said the police activity in Seacliff on Monday was a ''further search phase'' in relation to the homicide.

''As the matter is before the court, we cannot comment further,'' the statement said.

Details of what was being sought and the reasons for the search went unanswered.

Findlay is next due in court on December 13.
