Gill Howard said Albie, her needle-felted woollen albatross with a 2.5m wingspan, went missing from the Brighton Gala last month.
Albie was booked to ''fly'' at Glenfalloch Woodland Garden in October, she said.
''He wanted to fly in the Forsyth Barr Stadium - I'd really like him home.''
Ms Howard made Albie for the Creative Fibre Festival at John McGlashan College in April last year.
The bird took about two months and 2kg of wool to create, she said.
Albie was hung in a tree on the Sunday morning of the gala with the help of firefighters from the Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The giant bird was used as a starting point for the dog fashion parade.
After the gala, she stood on her car to free the bird, but struggled to reach him and left him hanging overnight.
When she returned the next day, Albie was gone.
Anyone with information on Albie is asked to phone 027-508-1868.
