Invercargill teen Connor Douglas throws a shuttlecock while sitting to test his strength while Paralympic gold medallist Anna Grimaldi tries to keep her eye on the balls during the Paralympics Open Day at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday.
It was part of a series of events being held around New Zealand promoting para-sport to athletes, coaches and supporters.
Grimaldi said the open day was a chance for young people with disabilities to find a sport which suited them and she wished there had been a similar opportunity when she was first getting into athletics.
She was at the event with other Paralympians Adam Hall, Carl Murphy, Jessica Hamill, Caitlin Dore and Jacob Phillips helping to promote para-sport.Invercargill teenager Connor Douglas, who has a traumatic brain injury, said he came to the open day hoping to find a sport he could participate in.
"It’s good to see what options there are because everyone should be able to play sport, no matter what," he said.
