Public nominations of unsung heroes are being sought for the Dunedin Stars 2008 Awards.
Dunedin's community newspaper The Star is holding its fourth annual Dunedin Stars Awards on December 3.
City residents nominating unsung heroes was key to the awards' growing popularity and success, editor Helen Speirs said.
At last year's awards night, more than 200 nominees, their nominators and invited guests gathered to honour six people who were presented with Young Star or Community Spirit awards.
Nominees can be friends, workmates, sports coaches, service club secretaries, firefighters - anyone not widely known but whose contribution reflects the core value of giving and not receiving.
There are two award categories, Young Star and Community Spirit.
Three awards, including a supreme award, are given for each category.
Nominations close on November 21.
