Club member Trish Enright said almost all of the club’s 40 members showed up to make the rolls as a way to raise money to have the club’s lawn maintained.
By taking pre-orders on the rolls they could buy the right amount of ingredients, including the herb mix which made them taste ‘‘magical’’.
Members ranged from school children to those in their 80s and it was great to see them all pitching in, she said.
Extra cheese rolls were made to be donated to the staff of various organisations, such as the SPCA and Dunedin Cat Rescue.
The unused crusts from the end of the loaves were collected and given to Dunedin Craft Distillers, which would use them to brew gin and vodka, she said.
