Yesterday, in Dunedin, it was the facial of the goddesses.
Erban Spa, in the old Roslyn fire station, was offering chocolate facials as part of the Cadbury Chocolate Carnival.
The hour-long treatment was served up in three flavours: Turkish delight, peppermint cream and cherry ripe.
Diana Gaddes (47), of Dunedin, selected peppermint cream.
"I had the day off and thought I'd treat myself to something a bit different," she said.
"I've had normal facials before, but never a chocolate one. I wanted to see if it had any different benefits, compared to other facials."
The $100 chocolate mask was unlike any beauty treatment she had had, Mrs Gaddes said.
"It was quite hot and sticky when it was put on, but my face felt lovely and smooth and soft when it came off.
"You could smell the chocolate and peppermint, too.
"I couldn't believe how good it felt and smelled. I felt really light."
Chocolate is, apparently, rather good for facials.
Raw cacao (cocoa) powder contains 10 times the antioxidants of blueberries and 30 times the antioxidants of tea.
