Market postponed

Plans to launch a new weekend market in Dunedin have been postponed, after organisers ran out of time to obtain licences for their traders.

The market was to be staged for the first time at Dunedin's Market Reserve on Sunday, attracting about 30 mainly arts, crafts and food stalls.

Organiser Gareth Davies, of Dunedin, said a three-month consent to use the site had been granted yesterday by the Dunedin City Council, but more work was needed to ensure all traders had been issued with mobile trading licences.

It was hoped the licences would be obtained next week, meaning the market - running from 10am to 3pm each Sunday - could be staged for the first time on December 20, he said.
