The Titri man who set fire to a car, tried to burn eight other cars and a bar manager after being thrown out of the Lake Waihola Cafe and Bar in June last year has died in Dunedin Hospital.
Boyd Edward Cuttance (44) died last Wednesday following 10 weeks in the neurology ward at Dunedin Hospital.
Cuttance pleaded guilty to 10 charges and was sentenced to two and a-half years' jail for arson, and given concurrent two-year sentences for attempted arson and the assault on Lake Waihola Cafe and Bar publican Kevin Reid.
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, confirmed Cuttance had been serving his jail term with the Department of Corrections when he fell ill and was taken to Dunedin Hospital.
His funeral will be held at 2pm today at St Mary's Parish Church, Mosgiel.
