Emergency services were called to the Corstorphine property shortly before 8pm and a man in his 50s was taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious wounds, a St John spokesman said.
Police interviewed people outside the Westgate address, before sealing off the scene.
"It was of a domestic nature, and a party has been injured as a result," Acting Senior Sergeant Damion Rangitutia said, declining to comment further.
