Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said the man was driving in Melbourne St, South Dunedin, when he had a medical event about 1.25pm yesterday.
‘‘He drove through the give way sign at Andersons Bay Rd, before crashing into a car yard on the other side of the road.’’
Snr Sgt Bond said Hato Hone St John and Fire and Emergency NZ crews attended and resuscitated the man before transporting him to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.
Police were continuing to investigate the incident, he said.
