A 20-year-old Dunedin man was hit by a car in Caversham last night after running from police.
Southern District Command Centre deployment co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said police were attending a domestic incident at a Caversham house about 9pm.
A police officer was talking to a woman inside the house and another police officer was talking to a man outside.
The man ran and was hit by a passing car on the corner of College St and South Rd.
After police and ambulance staff arrived, he refused treatment but was taken to Dunedin Hospital, Snr Sgt Benn said.
The man had breached his bail conditions and when his hospital treatment was completed he would be transferred to the police station and be charged.
A Dunedin Hospital spokeswoman said late last night the man was being assessed in the emergency department.
No further information on his condition was available.
