Setting off under blue skies, the Majestic Princess cruise ship looms behind the houses of Port Chalmers as seen from Roseneath as it departs Dunedin yesterday.

The ship berthed at the Beach St wharf at 7am yesterday, bringing 3560 passengers and 1350 crew from its last stop in Fiordland.

Tourists spent a sunny day in the city where temperatures reached a high of 20.5degC about 4pm.

The five-year-old ship is bound for Lyttelton after departing about 8pm yesterday. It is due to arrive at 8.15am today.
