The humorous documentary tackles the topic of obesity by recounting Mr McDougall’s battle with weight loss.
Mr McDougall said responses to the film by audiences in Auckland and Wellington had been positive.
Audiences laughed in "all the right places" and seemed to understand the black humour of the film, he said.
Before last night’s screening, the pair said they felt excited and nervous about showing two and a-half years’ work to friends and family.
Since completion of the film, Lucks had started work on another Dunedin-based film, while Mr McDougall had secured an agent in Auckland.
There would be two screenings of the film at Metro Cinema in Dunedin on June 18.
