Workshop co-ordinator Tania Whetu said about 90 penguin lanterns were made at the fourth and final such workshop, held this time at the Dunedin Community Gallery in Princes St.
She also issued an urgent call for volunteers for the carnival on Saturday night, saying about 50 more aged from their late teens on were needed to act as lantern bearers or procession guides, or help with crowd safety or distribute programmes in exchange for a donation.
Those interested are asked to email info@midwintercarnival.co.nz or call Julia on 022319-7814 - a volunteers meeting will be held at the Community Gallery at 5.30pm today.
