All will be kosher on MS Volendam when it arrives in Dunedin next year, as it will be the first cruise ship visiting New Zealand to cater for Jewish needs.
The cruise will feature kosher cuisine, which conforms to Jewish dietary laws, prepared by top Israeli chefs.
Jewish entertainment will also feature, and Jewish lectures, and a resident cruise rabbi will be available for passengers.
Owned by the Holland America Line, Volendam will depart from Sydney on February 2, sailing to Melbourne and Tasmania, before arriving in Milford Sound on February 8.
The ship will arrive in Dunedin on February 9 and depart at 6pm that day.
Cruise NZ chairman Craig Harris said specialty cruises were becoming increasingly popular, with "gay cruises, lesbian cruises, golf cruises and kosher cruises operating all around the world".
New Zealand attracted only 1% of the worldwide cruise ship market, and providing a welcoming experience for specialty cruises would help grow that share, he said.
Tourism Dunedin acting chief executive Hamish Saxton said the news of the first kosher cruise ship coming to New Zealand was exciting.
"I would just like to say welcome."
The arrival of 64 cruises this season would be of huge benefit to the city and province, he said.
The kosher cruise, which will cater for more than 1400 passengers, is run by Eddie's Tours, of Israel, which has been operating similar cruises for more than 20 years.
Shore excursions for the voyage have yet to be finalised.
The 14-day cruise will also visit Christchurch, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga and Auckland.
