The manager at Dunedin's University Book Shop has made a ''key'' appointment as part of its staff restructuring process.
Bookstore manager Phillippa Duffy said long-serving staff member Greg Brook had been appointed to the new position of academic manager, based at its smaller branch within the University of Otago campus, which opened earlier this year.
''Greg is now responsible for overseeing and developing our textbook business for students across secondary and tertiary institutions,'' she said.
The new position was one of the ''key roles'' to come from restructuring at the book shop as it struggles with falling profits.
The appointment comes after staff at the store were handed redundancy notices and invited to reapply for their jobs earlier this month.
Former textbook manager James Mann resigned from the position in early May, because of family commitments.
