North Taieri residents' rubbish and recycling will be collected from the kerbside from Thursday.
The Dunedin City Council's infrastructure services committee voted earlier this month to extend Mosgiel's service to include the block bordered by Wairongoa Rd, Milners Rd, School Rd to Gordon Rd from Dukes Rd corner.
Ratepayers had been consulted. Responses had been received from half of the affected ratepayers, and about 72% of those were supportive.
Councillors queried how much it would cost, but were told by council staff the relevant trucks drove through the area anyway so the added cost was minimal.
The relevant $64 annual rate for the service will be added to the bills of properties in that area.
Residents will receive bins today, along with calendars to let them know which bin to put out each week.
