Spending six hours decorating his bus, dubbed the "Santa express", and then sweltering his way through shifts in a Santa suit, is all worth it for Lindsay Haar.

"I do it for the kids.

"I love it."

It is the third year, Mr Haar (56) has decorated his bus with tinsel, Christmas lights and decorations.

He also has his favourite Christmas songs mix CD playing.

The Citibus driver says seeing the expression on children's faces when they step on the bus was all the reward he needed.

"It's absolutely marvellous."

Admittedly, with temperatures in the high 20s yesterday, it was quite warm in his suit, he said.

"I've had to shed some clothes."

Mr Haar can be seen on his bus on the morning St Clair run, a Helensburgh run and the afternoon-evening Opoho run.
