The items were collected by Otago Polytechnic staff following a personal development programme called Turning Point.
As part of the programme, they were asked to run a project to benefit the community.
Mr Thompson said the group members managed to collect 714 items, including toiletries and canned and dried food.
The Otago Polytechnic has matched each item collected with a dollar, so Presbyterian Support was also presented with a cheque for $714.
