Injuries after hit by van

A Woman sustained moderate injuries after being hit by a van in Dunedin yesterday.

Constable Charlotte Davies, of Dunedin, said the 31-year-old woman, who was wearing black clothes and holding a black umbrella, was crossing the Castle and Stuart St intersection at 7.50am.

A 53-year-old man driving a ''work van'' from Stuart St in to Castle St failed to see the woman and the van's left wing mirror hit her.

It had appeared the woman had the right of way when crossing from the railway station side of Castle St towards the Dunedin courthouse, she said.

The woman sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Dunedin Hospital.

She was discharged from hospital yesterday. Inquiries were continuing, Const Davies said.
