The Scenic Hotel Dunedin City temporarily closed this week, with staff and bookings being shifted to the Southern Cross site in High St.
National marketing manager Kelly Watson said there was an outbreak of the virus in Dunedin recently and consolidating the two hotels meant one could continue running without stretching staff too thinly.
Most bookings were able to be relocated to the Southern Cross site, which minimised the issues that came along with the move.
It was not an ideal situation, but with Covid, there were times you had to "go with the flow," she said.
The Dunedin City hotel planned to reopen next Friday to accommodate those who were in town for the Ireland vs New Zealand rugby test match next weekend.
