HMNZS Otago crew members (from left) leading weapons technician Ashleigh Crum, leading seamanship combat specialist Filomena Songivalu and ordinary hydrographic survey operator Josephine Sharp tie the Royal New Zealand Navy off-shore patrol vessel to the mooring at the T/U sheds about 10am yesterday.

HMNZS Otago’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Andrew Sorensen, of  Marlborough, said the vessel was in Dunedin after spending about two weeks in the New Zealand Subantarctic Islands.

The 60 crew worked on  Campbell Island and the Auckland Islands for the Department of Conservation fixing boardwalks and tracks and for the MetService servicing its forecasting gear.

Most of the crew  attended the Super Rugby game at Forsyth Barr Stadium last night.

"They have to support the Highlanders being on [HMNZS] Otago."

Even the crew from Waikato did, he  said. The vessel would sail at 10am on Monday for Auckland.
