Foliage grows through temporary fencing at Dunedin’s Northern Cemetery, installed by the Dunedin City Council in February last year.

Parks and recreation acting group manager Heath Ellis said the temporary fencing covered gaps in a hedge which required replanting.

"The fence stops people entering the cemetery through those gaps and will allow the hedge to grow back once it is replanted, which we now expect will be done in the next few months," he said.

"We’ll remove the fencing once the hedge has grown back, likely in about 12 months."
