The "gusty" northeasterly wind was ideal for kiteboarding there yesterday.
If the wind kept blowing in the same direction, he would return to ride on the harbour again today.
MetService meteorologist Lisa Murray said the northeasterly winds were forecast to continue in the city today with a maximum temperature of 19degC.
However, light rain would fall in Dunedin for periods in the morning and afternoon between fine spells.
For the weekend, tomorrow was "the pick of the bunch" with light winds and a forecast maximum temperature of 15degC.
On Sunday, showers, a cold southerly and a 12degC maximum were forecast.
